Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data EconomyBot collects, how it is used and how long it is retained. We take privacy seriously and collect only what is strictly necessary to operate the bot.

1. Data We Collect

EconomyBot stores the following data in order to function:

• Discord User IDs — to identify users within a server's economy
• Discord Guild (Server) IDs — to separate data per server
• Economy data — wallet balance, bank balance, daily streak, last daily claim date
• Transaction history — source, direction, amount and timestamp of balance changes
• Cooldowns — action name and expiry timestamp per user
• Achievements — which achievements a user has earned and when
• Inventory — items purchased from the shop and their quantities
• Active effects — consumable effects currently applied to a user (e.g. rob shield), including expiry time
• Server configuration — settings configured by server admins via the dashboard, including bot nickname, bio and a CDN URL pointing to the bot's per-server avatar/banner hosted by Discord

We do not collect message content, usernames, email addresses or any personal information beyond what is listed above.

2. Dashboard Login

When you log in to the dashboard using Discord OAuth2, we receive your Discord user ID, username and avatar URL. This is stored in your session only for the duration of your visit and is not persisted to our database.

3. Image Uploads

When a server admin uploads a custom bot avatar or banner via the dashboard, the image is processed entirely in memory — it is never written to our servers. It is validated, re-encoded and sent directly to Discord's API. Only the resulting Discord CDN URL is stored in our database. The original image file is discarded immediately after processing.

4. Analytics

Our public website (economybot.app) uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised visit statistics such as page views and general geographic region. This data is used solely to understand website traffic. No analytics are collected inside the bot or the dashboard. You can opt out using standard browser tools or a content blocker.

5. How We Use Your Data

All collected data is used exclusively to operate the bot's economy features. We do not:

• Sell, share or transfer your data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising or profiling
• Process data for any purpose other than running the bot

6. Data Retention

Economy data is retained as long as the bot remains in your server. When the bot is removed from a server, all data for that server is automatically and permanently deleted — including user balances, transaction history, cooldowns, achievements and configuration. Individual users may also request deletion of their personal data at any time by contacting us.

7. Data Security

Data is stored on secured servers. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect it, but no system is completely secure. Use of the bot is at your own risk.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR and similar regulations you have the right to access, correct or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, please contact us via our Discord support server.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at economybot.app/privacy.
